On June 26, 2015, Forestry Innovation Investment, the B.C. Ministry of International Trade and the University of British Columbia hosted a delegation from China’s Sichuan Province, led by Vice Governor Huang Yanrong. Responsible for leading construction, education and tourism efforts in Sichuan, the delegation visited B.C. to explore the application of B.C. wood and low carbon wood construction technologies, and to develop cooperative relationships by exchanging information with various entities in B.C.
The Vice Governor was accompanied by the Chief Planner of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of Sichuan, as well as the Vice President of the International Technology and Education Institute, Sichuan College of Architectural Technology.
Following a tour of the Richmond Oval, the Vice Governor met with the Minister of International Trade, Teresa Wat to discuss opportunities for increased engagement between the two provinces.
The day’s events concluded with a tour of UBC's Earth Sciences Building and a presentation by Alberto Cayuela, Director of Operations and Business Development at UBC’s Centre for Interactive Research on Sustainability.
