Funding is typically delivered in partnership with the forest industry and is available to non-profit organizations, universities and research institutions working on behalf of the BC or Canadian wood products industry.

The types of projects we fund include market development, research and promotional activities that foster growth and strengthen BC’s and Canada’s global competitiveness.

Market Initiatives

The Market Initiatives program encourages the development of export markets and new market segments for BC forest products. Priority is placed on creating or expanding new market segments within established markets in China, Japan, South Korea and the United States and Canada (outside of BC) as well as new, high-potential markets in India and Vietnam.

Wood First

The Wood First program supports the advancement of wood building systems, technologies, and expertise here in BC, and raises awareness of British Columbia as a world leader in advanced wood construction and design.

Partners In Market Development

FII undertakes its activities using a collaborative delivery model with provincial and federal government and industry stakeholders, including more than two dozen industry trade associations, research institutes and universities. Working with partners allows FII to draw on expertise, minimize duplication and maximize resources.
